Employment Type:
Full-Time
Job description:
We are seeking an experienced internal audit professional to join enza as Head of Internal Audit for Enza for Electronic Payments S.A.E. (enza Egypt), our Egyptian payment service provider (PSP) business. This is a key control function under the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Governance and Internal Control Instructions for payment institutions, and the appointment requires the CBE’s prior written approval.
The Head of Internal Audit will run an independent internal audit function that reports to the Board Audit Committee, and is independent of the Managing Director and the executive management whose activities it audits. It will give the Committee and the Board independent assurance that governance, risk management and internal controls are designed well and working as intended, including over the risk and compliance functions.
The ideal candidate is a credible, technically strong audit leader who is comfortable delivering difficult messages.
Key responsibilities:
- Charter & Audit Plan
- Develop and maintain the Internal Audit Charter for Board approval, covering all activities including outsourced and agent-related ones
- Prepare an annual risk-based audit plan, making sure every department is reviewed at least once every three years
- Safeguard the independence and objectivity of the function, with unrestricted access to records, and operate in line with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards
- Audit Execution
- Plan and deliver audits across processing, settlement and reconciliation, finance, technology, information security, AML/CFT, outsourced services and agents
- Issue clear, evidence-based reports with rated findings and practical recommendations
- Assurance over Controls, Risk & Compliance
- Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of systems, policies and controls, including the risk management and compliance functions
- Test whether regulatory obligations and licence conditions are being met in practice, not just on paper
- Reporting & Follow-Up
- Report to the Audit Committee and the Board every quarter, with recommendations, and follow up their implementation
- Coordinate with the CBE and the external auditors on corrective actions, and monitor their implementation
- Team & Specialist Support
- Build and lead a qualified internal audit team with ongoing training, and bring in specialist support (for example in cyber security and PCI DSS) where needed, with Audit Committee approval
Required Skills and Experience:
- Degree in accounting, finance, information systems or a related discipline
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification, or equivalent such as CISA, ACCA or CPA
- At least 10 years in internal or external audit, including 3 or more leading an audit function, preferably in banking, payments or fintech
- Strong understanding of payment systems, card processing, financial controls and technology risk
- Experience reporting to an audit committee and dealing with regulators
- Fluent Arabic and English, written and spoken
- Meets the CBE fit and proper criteria (integrity, competence, sound financial standing and independence), and will complete the CBE nomination forms and any interview
- No executive or operational responsibilities elsewhere in the business, and the confidence to challenge senior management
Why join enza?
- Build an internal audit function, reporting to the Board Audit Committee
- Gain breadth across payments, technology, finance and regulation
- Be part of an ambitious fintech transforming Africa’s payments landscape
