Khazna was founded in 2019 with a mission to improve the financial well-being of the underbanked, who have little access to formal financial services by providing access to convenient, effective and secure smartphone-based financial services. Khazna has received the Central Bank of Egypt’s first prepaid card license and aims to become the go-to specialized bank for underbanked mid-to-low-income consumers across the Middle East. In the next phase of its journey, Khazna is looking to continue scaling up its operations in Egypt and to launch its operations in Saudi Arabia.

Job Summary 💼

As a Data Scientist at Khazna, you will be at the intersection of machine learning, advanced analytics, and business intelligence. You’ll build and deploy ML models, extract meaningful insights from complex datasets, and also take on analytical and dashboarding responsibilities. Your work will directly inform strategic decisions, power product features, and optimize operational performance.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable building ML models and answering real business questions. You will collaborate closely with business and engineering teams and are expected to take ownership from idea to insight to impact.

Responsibilities📋

Business Insight and Data Exploration

• Partner with business and product teams to explore key problems using data-driven methods.
• Conduct deep-dive analyses to uncover growth opportunities, improve user journeys, or optimize marketing, credit, and operational funnels.
• Structure ambiguous problems and clearly communicate insights and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders.

Model Development and Advanced Analytics

• Design, build, and deploy machine learning solutions for new product features and operational optimization.
• Own the entire ML lifecycle—from data preparation to training, validation, deployment, and monitoring in production.
• Perform feature engineering, model selection, performance tuning, and A/B testing to ensure business impact.

Dashboarding and Reporting

• Build and maintain dashboards to track performance of models and business metrics using tools like Looker, Power BI, Tableau, or Metabase.
• Provide real-time visibility into the impact of your work and support data democratization across the organization.

Experimentation and Measurement

• Design and evaluate A/B tests and other experiments to measure the effectiveness of product and marketing interventions.
• Build simulation models and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications🎓

• 3 years of experience in a data science or hybrid data science/analytics role
• Solid understanding of statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, experimentation, and causal inference.
• Strong experience with Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn, Keras, etc.) and SQL.
• Experience with dashboarding tools like Looker, Power BI, Tableau, or Metabase.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
