Lula is hiring a Credit Manager to lead credit operations, responsible for optimising the end-to-end credit lifecycle by balancing high-impact decision-making with strategic team leadership and process innovation. You will drive portfolio performance through rigorous risk assessment, hands-on mentorship, and the continuous refinement of lending systems to ensure seamless, customer-centric funding solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Credit Team Workload: Coordinating with Credit Leadership and Credit Analysts to ensure efficiency throughout the Credit lifecycle. Step in to assist other Credit Managers where needed.
- Reviewing and Approving Applications: Evaluate and approve credit applications within your mandate to ensure timely access to funding for our clients.
- Training and on-boarding Credit Employees: Provide primary training to new Credit joiners and drive the onboarding process within the department, including driving documentation to continuously improve.
- Collaboration and continuous improvement: Work closely with the credit management teams and key business stakeholders to maintain and enhance high-quality decision-making processes, with a focus on improving overall portfolio performance. Continuously explore ways to streamline and expedite the approval process while maintaining strong credit quality.
- Documentation and Training Support: Address identified training and documentation gaps among analysts and work with the credit management team to address these gaps effectively through training and better documentation.
- Team Management: Perform all day to day management tasks for team members in your reporting line, including required people management process like KPIs and regular check-in meetings
- Platform Proficiency: Develop a deep understanding of our lending platform to ensure effective decision-making. Stay updated on the latest technology developments and technical issues affecting credit decisions. Along with credit management, drive efficiency through suggesting improvements to Lula systems.
- Multitasking: Exhibit the ability to handle various ad-hoc tasks on a daily basis while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Customer-Centric: Generate innovative ideas and solutions to meet customer needs, ensuring their satisfaction while adhering to credit metrics.
- Credit Lifecycle Expertise: Demonstrate a solid understanding of the credit lifecycle, including collection processes.
- Risk Assessment: Provide insights on credit risk and make recommendations for credit improvements, always seeking solutions.
- Ad-Hoc Projects: Be prepared to engage in other ad-hoc projects as needed to support the team's objectives.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR
To excel in the role of Credit Manager at Lula, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Educational Background: Strong finance/business degree and/or professional certification (CA, CIMA or ACCA)
- Relevant Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Credit Analyst or similar position, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Target Achievement: A proven track record of consistently meeting and surpassing targets, demonstrating your ability to deliver results.
- Mentorship: Previous experience in mentoring and guiding junior team members, showcasing your leadership and coaching abilities.
- Numerical Proficiency: Exceptionally strong numerical ability to navigate complex financial data and make informed decisions.
