Who we are

Yoco was founded in 2015, and we’ve been breaking down barriers, unlocking economic opportunities and opening commerce for people to thrive ever since.

We’re the payments provider for over 200,000 self-employed, and process over US$3 billion annually.

We have ±350 team members globally, all with a bias for boldness and a passion for simple, progressive solutions. We believe in uniting different people to solve hard problems, together.

Our mission of making society more equal requires a variety of people, with different backgrounds and points of view, to keep building solutions that make life easier for emerging businesses.

We’re growing fast. With growth comes compelling challenges. If you’re an ambitious problem-solver, with big ideas, a passion for doing good, bright, grounded and courageous; you’re likely to thrive at Yoco.

We don’t stop pushing. We break things to rebuild. We challenge ourselves and each other. We’re constantly evolving - and we’re doing it fast.

Grow With Us.

About the team

You'll lead and grow the Business Analytics team, embedded across Yoco's business units with primary focus on Go-to-Market, Customer Operations, and Business Enablement. The team covers three core analytical domains: Customer Operations Analytics, Go-to-Market Analytics, and Company Reporting (BI).

We already have a team in place, and you'll grow it further through your own hiring - bringing in expertise across analytics and company reporting.

About the role

This is a hands-on management role. You'll be expected to deliver technically while also leading people, partnering with stakeholders, and building the team. In the early months, you'll lean more heavily into technical delivery as you establish credibility and the team grows, shifting toward management over time.

You own the Business Analytics domain: the roadmap, the team, the stakeholder relationships, and the quality bar. You also own a key challenge - building analytics maturity across the business. That means identifying opportunities for growth, helping teams get more value from data, building automation, and creating the self-service and reporting foundations that make the whole business more data-informed.

What you will be doing

Technical Delivery

  • Lead cross-team analytical projects spanning Go-to-Market, Customer Operations, and Company Reporting

  • Personally deliver high-impact strategic analyses: market sizing, commercial performance deep-dives, operational efficiency studies, financial performance reporting

  • Review and elevate the team's BI and reporting output - set the quality bar through your own work

  • Own analytical standards for business reporting: metric definitions, consistency, data quality

  • Build and maintain reporting for company KPIs, tracking strategic initiatives and progress

  • Partner with Analytics Engineering on data modelling and pipeline needs

  • Drive self-service analytics adoption across business functions

Business Partnership & Analytics Maturity

  • Embed deeply with Go-to-Market, Customer Operations, Business Enablement, and Finance teams as a strategic partner

  • Translate business strategy into an analytics roadmap and priorities

  • Identify opportunities for growth in how each business function engages with data - whether through better tooling, training, processes, or coaching

  • Coach business partners on engaging with data effectively: asking the right questions, interpreting insights, knowing when to trust data and when to trust judgement

  • Identify high-impact analytical opportunities the business hasn't yet recognised

People Leadership

  • Run regular 1:1s with your team; provide coaching, candid feedback, and career development support

  • Hire and onboard new team members as the function grows

  • Lead performance reviews and create individualised development plans

  • Build a collaborative, high-trust team culture from the ground up

  • Handle difficult conversations with care and directness

Delivery & Operations

  • Prioritise across competing demands, balancing strategic projects with operational needs

  • Build delivery systems and processes that drive clarity, accountability, and quality

  • Remove blockers and ensure the team has what it needs

  • Communicate progress and team impact clearly to stakeholders and leadership

About you

Must-Haves

These are genuine requirements, not a wish list. If you meet these, please apply.

  • 10+ years in business analytics, BI, or a related analytical role

  • At least 3 years of people leadership: managing, mentoring, or formally leading a team

  • Still technically hands-on - not someone who has moved entirely into management

  • Strong hands-on SQL skills and experience building executive-level dashboards and reporting frameworks

  • Deep understanding of commercial metrics: revenue, unit economics, customer lifetime value, funnel metrics, retention

Strong Preferences

These strengthen your application but aren't deal-breakers.

  • Track record as a business partner: embedded with stakeholders, influencing decisions, translating between technical and business contexts

  • Experience building analytics maturity: self-service frameworks, reporting automation, stakeholder enablement

  • Understanding of digital marketing and growth analytics: campaign performance, spend tracking, attribution, and reporting back on GTM effectiveness

  • Experience building or scaling a small analytical team (hiring, onboarding, setting culture)

  • Familiarity with modern analytics tools and data stack: Python/R, BI platforms, dbt, Snowflake/BigQuery

Nice to Have

  • Experience in fintech, payments, or high-growth technology companies

  • Understanding of digital marketing, growth, and campaign analytics

  • Experience with company-level KPI reporting and tracking strategic initiatives

  • Understanding of the South African market or African fintech landscape

The people we’re looking for

We’re looking for people who want to grow and have a thirst for learning. And as Yoco grows, we hope they stay with us for the long-term.

Building solutions for a more equal society is a daunting task - and it’s not for everyone. We never stop pushing, we break things to rebuild, and we challenge ourselves and our teammates. We start over, we constantly evolve - and we do it fast. We know that it’s just the right kind of meaningful madness for our kind of visionary human.

So, who are you? You’re someone who resonates with our mission and our values, and you’re relentlessly effective in your execution.

You’re a curious problem-solver with a passion for doing good. You’re bright, grounded, experimental and bold. You play open cards and get stuck in. You’re not afraid of change. You close the loop.

At Yoco, we laugh, embrace each other’s quirks, and support one another’s growth, all while staying authentic.

If this sounds like your kind of challenge, apply below and come grow with us.

We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply and ask that you please send your application in English and help us reduce unconscious bias by leaving out your picture, age, address, and other unnecessary information in your CV.
