Product Analytics Manager
Who we are
Yoco was founded in 2015, and we’ve been breaking down barriers, unlocking economic opportunities and opening commerce for people to thrive ever since.
We’re the payments provider for over 200,000 self-employed, and process over US$3 billion annually.
We have ±350 team members globally, all with a bias for boldness and a passion for simple, progressive solutions. We believe in uniting different people to solve hard problems, together.
Our mission of making society more equal requires a variety of people, with different backgrounds and points of view, to keep building solutions that make life easier for emerging businesses.
We’re growing fast. With growth comes compelling challenges. If you’re an ambitious problem-solver, with big ideas, a passion for doing good, bright, grounded and courageous; you’re likely to thrive at Yoco.
We don’t stop pushing. We break things to rebuild. We challenge ourselves and each other. We’re constantly evolving - and we’re doing it fast.
Grow With Us.
About the team
You'll lead the Product Analytics team, partnering with Yoco's Product & Engineering functions. The team drives product-led decision-making through user behaviour analytics, experimentation, feature impact analysis, and growth insights. You'll manage a team of high-impact data analysts who work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers across Yoco's product portfolio.
The existing team is set up and working across the main cross-functional product tribes. What we're looking for in this role is someone who sets the analytical direction at a product portfolio level - not just within individual product lines - invests in the team's growth, and acts as a strategic partner to Product leadership.
About the role
This is a hands-on management role. You'll be expected to deliver technically while also leading people, partnering with stakeholders, and building the team. In the early months, you'll lean more heavily into technical delivery as you establish credibility and the team grows, shifting toward management over time.
You'll own the Product Analytics domain: the roadmap, the team, the stakeholder relationships, and the quality of everything that ships. You'll also personally deliver the work that matters most - the complex analyses, the POCs, the strategic insights that shape product direction.
What you will be doing
Technical Delivery
Lead cross-team analytical projects that shape product strategy: product portfolio analytics, customer lifecycle analysis, growth modelling
Personally deliver proofs-of-concept and exploratory analyses on high-impact product questions
Own the experimentation framework: experiment design standards, statistical rigour, and test-and-learn roadmaps in partnership with Product
Review and elevate the team's dashboards, deep-dives, and research - set the quality bar through your own work
Build analytical standards that enable self-service, automation, and scalability - leveraging AI and modern tooling to multiply impact
Champion analytical best practices: reproducibility, documentation, peer review, methodological rigour
Partner with Analytics Engineering on data modelling and pipeline needs
Product Partnership
Act as a strategic analytical partner to Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers - not a service desk
Translate complex product questions into analytical frameworks and actionable insights
Support product leadership with KPI setting, metric design, and using data to steer decisions at the portfolio level
Drive adoption of experimentation and data-informed decision-making across the product org
Train and coach Product Managers and Engineers on how to think about data, interpret results with nuance, and build their own analytical capability
Identify opportunities for growth in how the product function engages with data - whether through better tooling, training, processes, or coaching
People Leadership
Run regular 1:1s with your team; provide coaching, candid feedback, and career development support
Lead performance reviews and create individualised development plans
Hire and onboard new team members as the team evolves
Build a collaborative, high-trust team culture where people do their best work
Handle difficult conversations with care and directness
Delivery & Operations
Plan and prioritise the team's quarterly roadmap in partnership with Product stakeholders
Balance ad-hoc requests, strategic projects, and standing commitments without dropping balls
Manage team workload and protect capacity for deep analytical work
Communicate the team's progress and impact clearly to stakeholders and leadership
About you
Must-Haves
These are genuine requirements, not a wish list. If you meet these, please apply.
10+ years in product analytics, product management, or a closely related analytical role
At least 3 years of people leadership: managing, mentoring, or formally leading a team
Still technically hands-on - not someone who has moved entirely into management
Strong hands-on skills in SQL and at least one of Python/R - you can deliver end-to-end analytical work yourself
Experience with experimentation: A/B test design, statistical significance, interpreting results in ambiguous situations
Deep understanding of product metrics: activation, engagement, retention, conversion funnels, feature adoption
Strong Preferences
These strengthen your application but aren't deal-breakers.
Blended experience across product management and data/analytics - you understand both the product decision-making process and the analytical rigour needed to support it
Experience partnering with a Product/Engineering org, working at the pace of product developmentFamiliarity with product analytics tooling: Amplitude, Mixpanel, PostHog, or similar event-based platforms
Experience building analytics maturity: self-service frameworks, automation, data literacy programmes, or stakeholder training
Track record translating analytical insights into measurable product outcomes (not just deliverables)
Experience building or scaling a small analytical team (hiring, onboarding, setting culture)
Familiarity with modern data stack: dbt, Snowflake/BigQuery, Looker/Tableau
Nice to Have
Experience in fintech, payments, or marketplace/commerce businesses
Previous experience in a hybrid IC-manager role
Understanding of the South African tech ecosystem and small business context
